Racing a 100-miler in 2014

I began running in 1994, at age 24 while in graduate school, and for the past two decades I’ve participated in and covered the sport of road and MUT (mountain/ultra/trail) running. I’ve raced at distances on varying terrain from the 5K to 100 miles, and also twice finished a multi-day, self-supported 165-mile desert-crossing race.
